The only issue with tile is the grout in between each section. This can be difficult to clean but a professional cleaner will clean it right out.
The next most general type of floor covering is carpeting. Not all homes have carpeting but it is very typical in most modernly designed homes. Carpets have many different styles to choose from and thousands of colors and patterns as well. Carpeting is very nice to have if you live in a colder area because it helps during the winter months when the floors and walls do not retain a lot of heat. Some carpets are really uncomfortable on your feet, but some are incredibly soft and good feeling on your feet.
Just like any other improvement in your house flooring can be difficult to decide on as well, but the decision can be made simple if you can narrow it down to exactly what you are hoping to get.
